Hifu

What is HIFU?
HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It is a completely non-invasive ultrasound therapy, which works by heating up the collagen under the skin and stimulates neocollagenesis along with bringing about lipolysis.

Is it painful?
Patients may experience a slight pricking sensation during the treatment. One can apply anaesthetic cream before the treatment to alleviate the pain

Are there any side effects or complications of this treatment?
The skin might appear flushed at first; especially during the treatment but at times may last longer. The redness however disappears after a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other less common side effects may include temporary bruising, or numbness on smaller areas.

How many sessions are needed? What is the interval between the sessions?
Depending upon the bulk in the area and the desired result, 1-2 sessions may be needed. There should be a gap of at least 3 months between the sessions.

How long does it take for the result to show?
It takes 3 months for the results to show. You will see 10% progress in 1st month, another 10-20% in the 2nd month and maximum 70-80% outcome in the 3rd month after which you can repeat the HIFU session for the second time.
